Lennon woonde tijdens zijn jeugd in dit huist aan 9 Newcastle Road. Hierover vertelde hij later "It's just a number that follows me around." Het huis is niet ver verwijderd van Penny Lane, waar Lennon en McCartney een gelijknamig lied over schreven.[1]
12 Arnold Grove is een huis in Liverpool. Hier woonde de Beatles-gitarist George Harrison gedurende zijn kindertijd tot 1950.
Eind 16de eeuw kwam een Charles Six, lakenverver van beroep, uit het Frans-Vlaamse Saint-Omer naar Amsterdam; als aanhanger van Calvijn moest hij vluchten. In Amsterdam zette hij met zijn zonen het bedrijf voort, maar het kwam vooral tot bloei door de doortastendheid van zijn schoondochter Anna Wijmer, de moeder van de Jan op Rembrandts schilderij. Zij verwerft met hard werken een fortuin en koopt grote stukken land, die later statige landgoederen zullen worden. Het is het begin van een weelde en welstand die eeuwenlang zou voortduren, ook doordat de Sixen telkens weer rijke en invloedrijke huwelijkspartners wisten te kiezen.
Kloveniersburgwal 103: 1618-1663 Lijstgevel met een rechte lijst met ramen en twee consoles boven drie raamassen, links daarvan een vierde as als ingangspartij verzelfstandigt met een deuromlijsting in Lodewijk XIV-stijl die helemaal naar het dak doorloopt (uniek in Amsterdam, met een Italiaans aandoend balkonnetje bovenin), fraaie concave paneeldeur, in de deuromlijsting zijlichten. Vermoedelijk is de gevelbeëindiging en het bovenste deel van de ingangstravee niet origineel. Interieur: langste gang met stucwerk en gesneden deuren in Lodewijk XIV-stijl in misschien wel diepste grachtenhuis. Trappenhuis met stucwerk. Jan Six I (1618-1700) heeft hier gewoond tot de dood van zijn moeder in 1654, toen het vml. Glashuis dat zich ook naar Kloveniersburgwal 105 uitstrekte, daarna liet hij Herengracht 619 bouwen. Het pakhuis op de Groenburgwal 40 hoorde kadastraal bij dit pand.

We kennen niet de precieze locatie, maar we weten wel dat Jan Six is geboren in een huis tussen de Jodenbreestraat en Kloveniersburgwal. Ergens in zijn vroegste jeugd is hij vandaar samen met zijn moeder (zijn vader was al overleden voordat hij geboren was) verhuisd naar een huis dat was gelegen tussen Kloveniersburgwal nummer 101 en nummer 105. Onderdeel van dat blok was het ‘Glashuys’, dat eerder eigendom was geweest van een glasfabrikant. Vandaag is alleen Kloveniersburgwal 105 nog een overblijfsel van dat oorspronkelijke huis en dan is het volgens Geert Mak ook nog eens zo dat er maar een paar elementen van het oorspronkelijke huis zichtbaar zijn. Jan woonde in dit huis, ging naar de Latijnse school in de Koestraat.
Het was de woning waar Jan Six zijn kunstcollectie begon. Tenslotte was Kloveniersburgwal 103 ook het huis waar hij als 37-jarige met zijn 20-jarige bruid Margaretha Tulp zou wonen, nadat ze in 1655 getrouwd waren. Het was helaas ook op deze plek waar Margaretha meerdere miskramen had, waardoor het echtpaar aanvankelijk kinderloos bleef.
Keizersgracht 210: 1663-1666
n mei 1663 trok Jan Six met zijn vrouw in bij zijn schoonvader Claes Pietersz. (1593-1674) aan de Keizersgracht 210. Six en zijn vrouw woonden ruim drie jaar bij Margaretha’s vader tijdens de bouw van hun huis aan de Herengracht nummer 619.
Herengracht 619: 1669-1700
Het was een dubbel huis met drie grote ramen, buitengewoon hoge plafonds en was – dus – uitgerust met buitengewoon ruime kamers. Nadat het huis af was gebouwd, verhuisden Jan Six, zijn vrouw en hun eenjarige zoon naar dit grote huis, waar Six met zijn gezin de rest van zijn leven zou wonen.
Amstel 218 In 1915 moet prof. Six zijn geliefde familiehuis aan de Herengracht verlaten. Het zal worden gesloopt ten behoeve van de verbreding van de Vijzelstraat. In ruil biedt de gemeente hem het pand Amstel 218 aan, met overbrenging van het volledige oude interieur.
WAAR WAS VONDELS KOUSENWINKELTJE? Dit is de Warmoesstraat, de naam is ontleend aan warmoes = groente; hier waren vroeger de groentemarkten. Op nummer 39, de plek waar nu het restaurant New Season zit, kreeg Vondels vader een zijdewinkel.
Castel Mare was built in 1905 on the rocks of Cap d’Ail. The villa has seen many famous guests such as members of the Netherlands Royal family. Queen Beatrix is the godchild of Henry’s stepmother Countess of Kotzebue. In the guest book you can still find the Windsors, the Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe, the author Somerset Maugham etc. It is now that the niece of the Prince Henry II of Reuss took over this fantasy filled shelter. Despite some modernization, it is the antique furniture and the old noble bathrooms that keep the spirit of those wonderful former days at the Côte d’Azur alive.
In 1976, New York's Grand Central Terminal was threatened with demolition. Jackie led a public crusade to save it, won, and it was then designated a National Historic Landmark. The oldest house in Greenwich Village, at 77 Bedford Street, this beauty was built in1799. Joshua Isaacs built his free-standing, clapboard house with yard a days ride from what was then Manhattan further south. Sadly, though, Samatha's apartment building looks very different today than it appeared back in 2000 when SATC filmed there. In the early 1900’s, the Meatpacking District was solely an industrial neighborhood, housing over 250 of New York’s slaughterhouses and warehouses. In the 80s, prostitutes and drug dealers moved in, turning MePa, as it is sometimes called, into a seedy and run down part of town. But during the past ten years or so, the entire Meatpacking District has undergone a huge transformation, turning it into one of the most trendy neighborhoods in New York. During this transformation, many of the old slaughterhouses and buildings, including Samantha’s, were given complete face lifts and no longer look as they did a decade ago. While the Kennedys' bedroom was being decorated their first weeks in the house, they lived here. Jackie Kennedy's redecoration of the connecting sitting room in blue and white has remained intact for nearly forty years. Lady Bird Johnson sometimes repaired here to work in complete privacy. It was also used for a Catholic mass on the first birthday of Luci Johnson Nugent's son Lyn, and served as a holding room for groom Chuck Robb before his White House wedding to Lynda Bird Johnson.

The second floor of the White House Residence is the first family residence, where their bedrooms and private sitting rooms are located, as well as some guest bedrooms such as the Lincoln Bedroom. This floor has 16 rooms, 1 main corridor, 6 bathrooms, and 1 lavatory. The first family has overnight guests at the Residence, but visiting chiefs of state usually stay across the street at Blair House, which is the official guest facility for international leaders and is managed and operated by the Department of State. whitehousemuseum
